Pastor James Lewis

On the 4th of July in 1945, James H. Lewis Jr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Pastor Lewis graduated from Bethany Nazarene College in 1968.

Before coming to Texas City in 1986, Pastor Lewis ministered at Long Beach, Mississippi (1970-1973), Crowley, Louisiana (1973-1977), and Nederland, Texas (1977-1986).

Pastor Lewis came to serve our church with his beautiful wife, Nan, and their sweet daughters, Michelle and Heather. Since their arrival 33 years ago, their family has greatly expanded. First, with the arrival of their youngest daughter Lori Elizabeth (a current member of our Worship Team). After having three girls, Pastor finally gained a son (In-law) when Michelle married Alan Nusz and later again when Heather married Chris Friend. Since Pastor Lewis' arrival he also gained seven precious grandchildren (Justin, Katie, Natalie, Megan, Haley, John and Layla), one granddaughter-in-law (Mel), and three great grandchildren.

Pastor Lewis' family has a long history of ministry. Pastor's father and grandfather were also ministers, making Pastor Lewis a third generation pastor. In May of 2015, following in his grandfathers' foot steps, Justin (Pastor's oldest grandchild) received his Local Preacher's License.  Our church is extremely blessed to have this family legacy as an example of how great God is and living proof of his faithfulness throughout generations.

Our church as been blessed to have Pastor Lewis as our minister and our friend for 33 wonderful years. We are thankful to his family for sharing him with us. He has supported our church through losses and hard times, but he has also shared in our victories and triumphs. We are grateful for his spiritual guidance, friendship, encouragement, kindness, and support. Pastor Lewis, Thank You for faithful ministering to members of our church and our town. While we cherish these last 33 years, we know the best is yet to come!
